Sligachan Old Bridge

Sligachan is one of the more mountainous areas on the island and offers some incredible photographic opportunities. Here I went down to the banks of River Sligachan and used the old bridge as a lead towards the Cuillin Mountains.

About Sligachan

Sligachan is a small settlement on the Isle of Skye, Scotland. Its stunning location on the River Sligachan and its close proximity to the Cuillin mountains make this one of the most iconic and interesting locations on Skye. Situated at the junction of the roads between Portree, Broadford and Dunvegan Sligachan is a great base to explore the island. The hotel here was built in 1830 at this road junction and has historically been the base for climbers to tackle the Cuillins. Legend has it that when in 1395 the Lord of the Isles attacked Skye a great battle was fought at Sligachan and the invaders were driven back to Loch Eynort, where after a cunning plan by the MacAskills all the invaders were wiped out.
