Millstone Edge Heather
After one completely unproductive trip to Millstone Edge earlier that week I returned the very next night and was treated to some great light. The sun managed to break through a tiny gap in the clouds, creating a this well defined beam of light and illuminating the clumps of vibrant bell heather on the edge and the village of Hathersage in the valley below.
About Millstone Edge:
Millstone Edge quarry was one of the largest gritstone quarries supplying the famous Peak District millstones. Eventually all work ended after the last stones were sold to a Swedish paper mill around 1939. The remaining stones lie abandoned littering the surrounding area.
