About the Long-tailed shrike:
The long tailed shrike or rufous backed shrike (Lanius schach) is a predatory bird in the family Laniidae. Like other shrikes they favour dry open habitats where they hunt from prominent perches on trees, scrub and electrical wires. Long-tailed shrikes take a wide variety of animal prey, including insects, reptiles, birds, small mammals and even occasionally fish. Shrikes are well known for their habit of impaling their prey on thorns after earning them the nickname “butcher bird”.
