About the Indian Cormorant:
Indian cormorants (Phalacrocorax fuscicollis) otherwise known as the Indian shags are members of the cormorant family found in parts of Asia. They are primarily found in inland rivers or large wetlands in India and northern Sri Lanka but also occur in Sindh, Thailand and Cambodia. Indian Cormorants are gregarious by nature and breed in mixed species colonies. They can be easily distinguished from the similar sized pygmy cormorant by their bright blue eyes. Although they favour rivers and wetlands Indian Shags also occur in estuaries and mangroves but not on the open coast.
