Bleaklow – Layers in the Landscape
Telephoto view showing the layers in the landscape from the highest point on Bleaklow, looking toward the Kinder plateau and hills beyond. Peak District National Park.
About Bleaklow:
Bleaklow is one of only two ‘mountains’ in the Peak District National Park, the other being nearby Kinder Scout. The area has a very unforgiving landscape with most of the area consisting of high level gritstone moorland, split by deep peat groughs that run like veins through the landscape. Much of the land is almost 610m (2,000 ft) above sea level making it the second highest point in the East Midlands.
