  • Taj Mahal Minarets. Taj Mahal at sunrise, Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India. Although it doesn't look like it from this wide angle photograph, the four minarets (towers) surrounding the Taj Mahal were constructed farther away from the main structure than usual. The minarets lean slightly outward as a safety measure so that if any of them fell, they would fall away from the tomb rather than damage the central structure.

  • The iconic Ventian gondolas bobbing on the lagoon, looking towards San Giorgio Maggiore. This classic view from San Marco was particularly tricky as I didn't have my tripod with me at the time so I had to balance the camera on whatever I could find! This made composition very tricky but I'm happy with this classic view of Venice despite the challenges.

  • Blue hour overlooking the Venice Grand Canal (Canal Grande). This iconic view from the Ponte dell'Accademia looking towards the Basilica Santa Maria della Salute, is my favourite view in the beautiful city of Venice.

  • St Mark's Basilica in the blue hour, taken during a particularly wet visit to the beautiful Italian city of Venice. Although it was a holiday rather than a work trip, I still brought my camera and one lens along to do some photography. We managed to avoid floods for most of the trip, but on the last day the torrential rain started again. The heavy rain did make this image of St Mark's square reflected in a large puddle possible, but also meant we got caught out with no waterproof footwear, not much fun getting the return plane with sodden shoes and socks!
