30 Minutes On Higger Tor

The conditions were amazingly varied last week at Shelter rocks on Higger Tor last with sunshine one second then dark moody skies and hailstorms the next. You can literally see the crepuscular rays meeting the hailstorm in the centre of one of the images! I spent the afternoon either hiding under the rocks (they really do live up to their name) or frantically cleaning the hail off my lens so I could capture the tiny glimpses of sunshine. I was hoping for a dramatic sunset but just as the sun was about to pop out from under the thick clouds a huge hailstorm blew over until well after the sun had set, still it was great to be out in such unpredictable weather!

Just after the hailstorm had passed the sun made a very brief appearance.
