About the Rose-ringed parakeet:
The rose-ringed parakeet (Psittacula krameri), also known as the ring-necked parakeet, is a medium-sized parrot in the family Psittaculidae. Native Africa and South Asia, they have since been introduced to many other parts of the world where escapees from the exotic pet trade have formed feral populations.
Rose-ringed parakeets are sexually dimorphic. Adult males have a distinctive red and black neck ring, which is not present in juvenile and female birds. Both sexes have a distinctive green colour in the wild, and captive bred ringnecks have multiple colour mutations including blue, violet and yellow. In the wild, they are well known as a noisy gregarious species with an unmistakable squawking call.
