About the black-rumped flameback:
The black-rumped flameback (Dinopium benghalense), also known as the lesser golden-backed woodpecker or lesser goldenback, is a woodpecker endemic to the Indian subcontinent and Sri Lanka.
Black-rumped flamebacks are common throughout their range and can be found in a wide range of habitats including tropical and sub tropical forest, dry deciduous forests, scrubland, grassland and urban areas.
They can be easily recognised by their distinctive black throat and rump which distinguishes them from other golden backed woodpeckers.
