Hello and welcome to my photography page. I hope you enjoy looking around! My name is Francis J Taylor, I am a multiple award-winning landscape and wildlife photographer based in Sheffield, UK.
As a keen naturalist and hill walker I consider myself extremely fortunate to live so close to the Peak District National Park, where I do the majority of my photography. In no time at all I can be out photographing the wildlife and beautiful scenery on the majestic edges, lush green dales and bleak moorlands of the Peak District. I have been exploring the Peak District my whole life and have built up an in-depth of knowledge of the wildlife and scenery in the national park.
In 2016 I won the Network Rail ‘Lines in the Landscape’ Award in the prestigious Landscape Photographer of the Year competition (LPOTY). As a passionate landscape photographer it has been a long standing goal to be featured in this renowned competition so to win an award feels amazing. My winning image features in the touring exhibition of the UK throughout 2016 and 2017 and was published in the official awards book.
In early 2017 I gained a second award, this time in International Garden Photographer of the Year (IGPOTY) in the ‘Breathing Spaces Category’ with another image achieving a commendation. My image features in a worldwide touring exhibition throughout 2017 and was published in the official IGPOTY awards book.
I have also been commended and highly commended several times in the British Wildlife Photography Awards (BWPA), with images exhibited nationwide and published in the official awards books.
My work is a celebration of the British countryside, showcasing our extremely rich and diverse heritage and the plethora of wildlife that inhabits our islands. We can often get so caught up in what’s going on elsewhere that we forget to appreciate the nature on our own doorstep. I care very deeply about conservation and ecology, and believe that photographers have a major role to play in conserving our environment by capturing its beauty and diversity. I always put the animal’s welfare first and I am a strong believer that if you have to cause disturbance or distress to capture an image it’s not worth it.
I hope you have enjoyed hearing a little bit about me!
My work is available to licence and as various products. I am also available for commissions and run photography workshops. If you have any queries or requests, please don’t hesitate to contact me via any of the contact details provided or use the form on the contact page.
