Ox Stones Sunrise

Ox stones Sunrise. With thick fog forecast for most of the Peak District, I decided to take a chance and catch the dawn at the Ox Stones. Just as the forecast had predicted though I arrived in thick murky fog. Not easily put off, I climbed on top of the stones and set up. As I waited the fog got thicker by the minute, it was starting to look like I wouldn’t get a sunrise at all. Suddenly a patch of colour appeared on the horizon and light began to burn through the fog, creating a beautiful orange glow and illuminating the gritstone. A beautiful morning!

Ox Stones Sunrise, Burbage Moor – About the Burbage Valley:

Burbage Edge lies on the eastern side of the Peak District National Park and is in fact just eight miles west of the centre of Sheffield making it an extremely popular walking and climbing hotspot. The Burbage Valley features two famous gritstone outcrops Higger Tor and Carl Wark, the latter of which is topped with the remains of what is thought to be a Bronze or Iron Age hill fort.

You can find more about the Burbage valley here.
