Gnarled Twisting Trees Padley Gorge

Commended in the 2017 Landscape Photographer of the Year awards.

Gnarled Twisting Trees, Padley Gorge. Gnarled old Oak trees creating some beautiful eery shapes in the mist. One from an eerily beautiful afternoon in the ancient oak woodland. As much as I love vibrant sun rises and sets, dank murky days offer some great opportunities to expand my portfolio.

About Padley Gorge:

Padley Gorge is a deep wooded gorge surrounded by open heather moorland in the Peak District National park. The Burbage Brook runs through the gorge cascading over rocky gritstone boulders to the Derwent Valley below. The stream originally signified the Yorkshire/Derbyshire boundary but the boundary has now been relocated to follow the A625, Hathersage Road.
